The two-week wait can be tough, especially if you have already had a couple negative months in the past. There are plenty of ways to distract yourself from the two-week wait and most of them will help improve your life or make life in the future less stressful.

Browse the Baby Section

It is a good idea for you to start becoming familiar with all the baby products are available on the market. The sooner you start researching products, the sooner you can complete your baby registry. Your two-week wait will start to fly by as you begin researching all of the baby products that are available.

By browsing the baby section you are able to see various product in person and compare the products features to each other without having to assume that they work well based on online reviews.

Take advantage of stores such as Buy Buy Baby, Target , and Walmart that offer testers of some products in store. You might have to visit multiple stores in order to test out all of the products you are looking for.

Create Your Baby Registry

It is never too soon to create your baby registry. You can always change the due date in the registry when you become pregnant.

Creating your baby registry can be a very time consuming process, so you will be very distracted from your two-week wait.

By creating your baby registry now, you are making a central location for all of the baby products you are interested in buying for your future child. It will also allow you to quickly see any price changes, sales, and deals that are offered for that product.

Although you won’t be buying anything now, you will have a good ideal about how the sale and clearance system works for the stores you are interested in buying from.

Many registries allow you to add products from multiple stores. They also generally have some sort of free welcome gift for creating the registry and completing a few requirements.

An Amazon baby registry is a great option because as of right now, you get a free welcome box, unlike some other registries. They also give you a percentage off your registry and free 1 year returns, which is way better than their standard 30 day return policy. Check and see if these benefits are still the same and sign up for your registry here before anything changes.

Read Parenting Books

Parenting books are a good way to get familiar with child behavior and development if you aren’t already.

Now, I don’t recommend you spend money on parenting books. You can check them out at your local library or you can download the Libby app and input your library card information and read the books digitally instead. There are books about surviving the two-week wait and other topics related to becoming a parent.

During the two-week wait and while you are pregnant will probably be the only time you will want to or have time to read these parenting books. You might be tempted to read them again while you child is going through sleep regression when they are a couple months old, but you will probably just Google search a solution instead of trying to find these books at 2:27AM.

Watch YouTube Videos

YouTube videos are a great way to learn about a variety of topics including babies, parenting, and motherhood. There are also plenty of YouTubers that will tell you all about the products that they loved and hated, so you can make a better choice about what to add to your baby registry.

If you are interested in the medical side of pregnancy and giving birth, there are plenty of medical YouTube videos that can help you be aware of what you could experience during your pregnancy and child birth.

There are more than enough videos and shorts to keep you entertained and informed during your two-week wait and throughout your pregnancy.

Find Some Baby Books

Some baby registries include a book section, but not all do. It is a good idea to have some physical books on hand so that you can introduce your child to physical books instead of just phones and tablets. It is also great so that if you want them to “read” to themselves, they won’t need a device to do it.

Work on Your Finances

Babies can be expensive. You might want to create a budget if you don’t have one already. You will want to make sure that you are in good financial health before getting pregnant.

Pregnancies don’t always go as planned and you could even be hospitalized if your pregnancy is bad enough. It would be a good idea to have some money saved up should you not be able to work or should you need money to pay some medical related expenses.

Since you are already working on your baby registry, you know how much the baby items you are looking at will cost. Your budget should try to incorporate these costs so you can buy what the baby will need once you have them.

During your two-week wait, you should take the time to look over your finances for the month and year, as well as your financial health in relation to your overall goals.

Make Any Home Repairs

Once you are in the nesting phase of your pregnancy, you will want all of these home projects and repairs completed. Avoid the headache now and just get them over with if you can.

If you are making the repairs yourself, be extra careful if you are using some toxic chemicals and other substances during your two-week wait. You don’t want to potentially expose your baby to anything that will harm them.

Make Any Car Repairs

It sucks when your car breaks down on the side of the road, it sucks more when you have a baby with you. Make sure that your car is in good shape before you get pregnant and while you are pregnant. You will have many prenatal visits throughout your pregnancy and you don’t want your car to start breaking down right as you are supposed to deliver your baby either.

Get a Physical

You won’t be able to get a pap smear while you are pregnant, so it is a good idea to get that out of the way now. You should also take this time to address any other health concerns you may have. Trust me when I say, when you are pregnant, the last thing you want to deal with is some sort of health issue that you could have handled before you got pregnant.

Take Your Vitamins

Your vitamins will keep you healthy now, and they will keep you and your baby healthy while you are pregnant. You can even take prenatal vitamins before you become pregnant. At the very least you should take a multivitamin while you are trying to get pregnant, then you can switch to prenatal vitamins once you learn you are pregnant.

A good thing to do during your two-week wait is research prenatal vitamins so you can learn about what is most important to have in a vitamin and in what amounts.

These are the vitamins I love, and I also take this folate supplement.

Exercise

You should exercise to keep your body healthy, you can avoid some pregnancy complications by losing any excess weight you may be carrying and by leading a more active lifestyle.

If you are trying to maintain a healthy weight when you become pregnant, it is a good idea to exercise before you become pregnant so your body is used to the stress, and continue exercising safely while you are pregnant.

I exercised before I was pregnant and throughout most of my pregnancy and I will do that with my next pregnancy.

Practice Meal Prepping

I definitely suggest meal prepping while you are pregnant so that you can have a bank of meals ready when you come home from the hospital. You aren’t going to want to spend all of your time cooking when you have a newborn baby at home.

You will make your life so much easier on yourself if you meal prep before the baby comes, and you will make life easier on yourself if you practice meal prepping now. This is a great way to distract yourself during the two-week wait because you can experiment with cooking healthy meals.

Bonus Tip

If you are tired of spending a small fortune on pregnancy tests, consider using these instead. I love these tests and I’ve never had a problem with them, I even urinate directly on them and have never had a problem with the accuracy.
