There is a best time to have a baby registry completed by so you can have a successful baby shower.

You also want to leave yourself enough time to buy anything that you didn’t get at your baby shower. Depending on where you live and what items you are still missing, shipping times can be long and you don’t want to be without items you and your baby need.

When Should You Start Your Baby Registry?

If you are already pregnant, you should start your registry now. You want to be well educated on the baby products you are interested in so you don’t waste money on unnecessary items.

Also, if you are trying to conceive (TTC), you can start your baby registry now. This is a great way to distract yourself during the two-week wait.

It doesn’t hurt to start learning about different baby products and the features you want. If you see something on clearance, you can feel comfortable snatching it up now, because you know you researched it well.

When Should Your Baby Registry Be Completed By?

You want to provide people with plenty of time to go find something on your registry that they are interested in buying you.

People are generally going to be in one of two boats.

They are going to be really excited as soon as you tell them will buy something for you immediately or within a week or so; or they will wait until the last few days before your baby shower.

Either way, the sooner you have it completed the better because you don’t know when people are going to start shopping for you and they may have a particular budget or want to buy you a particular item, and if it your choice isn’t there yet, they may just pick something random or not even get anything at all.

If You Are Telling People Immediately

If you are telling people you are pregnant immediately, you should try to have your registry completed as soon as possible.

If You Are Telling People At 12 Weeks (3 Months)

It would be much better if you have your registry completed by your 12 week if you are waiting until then to tell people you are pregnant.

If You Are Already Past 12 Weeks (3 Months)

You should have your baby registry completed as soon as possible, but definitely by your 20th week so you can have your baby shower between your 28th and 34th week.

Having your baby shower during this period allows you at least a couple weeks to get any remaining items that you didn’t get during your baby shower.

If you are having a twin or other multiple pregnancy, you might want to have your registry completed by week 16 so you can have your baby shower between your 26th and 32nd week. Twin pregnancies and other multiple pregnancies tend to deliver at an earlier gestational date than singleton pregnancies.
